is this worth it?

Is this worth it? I don't know and can't answer that. This is costly; in dollars, sweat and blood. I do know what we're building and why: I do know that existing roads are damaged or non-existent and we're building expanding ribbons of asphalt-the proverbial arteries of a healthy growing economy. I do know that this place is a desert and we're building wells and improving irrigation canals. I do know that this place has many rivers that cannot be crossed and we're building bridges. I do know that there's lots of kids and teachers without schools, so we're building schools. I do realize that we have an immensely powerful effect here. I do know it can be dangerous here, but I'm most horrified of failing here. The pundits and talking heads can figure it out over a latte and tell you what to think.

  • It's always worth it. Any time you have a chance to relieve human suffering and improve living conditions, it's always worth it.

    41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

    44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

    45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
