i feel handy

our sink would only trickle cold water, and progressively got less flow and less hot water, so i took it apart and put it back together, cleaned out the valves, and amazingly...it works much better than before. And today, i was working on work at home and katie was grading and our dogs were chewing rawhide bones quietly, then reece crawls up to katie and he's wheezing and his torso is getting visibly bloated...uh oh. Katie hold him down and he thrashes and opens his mouth and he's choking on something barely visible, obstructing his airway, and i think he's swallowing alot of air as he panics... the object is too slippery to grab and my fingers are too big to fit down his throat, he thrashes more, katies getting worried. So i grab some curved needle nose pliers and a light and grab the small object way back there, pull it out, and find out its a HUGE chunk of sloppy rawhide that's a few inches long. (Reece's entire head is only a few inches long). He stops wheezing and cuddles up in Katies lap.

btw, i think what i pulled out of the sink valves was bits of broken down insect parts....i think the previous home owner put in new pipes but forgot to see if critters were living in them prior to installing them...so we've been drinking water filtered past bugs chunks for the past year. hurray for boosting our immune systems.
